I love living in California. I really do. I love the sunshine. I love the beach. I love the mountains - real mountains! I love the desert. I love the no smoking rules. I love the addiction to drinking water and eating healthy food. I really love living in California.
Unhappy transplants say they miss the seasons in California. I don't miss them. I love the sunshine. And, it does get colder and hotter depending on the season. I can tell what season we're in.
But . . .
I must admit that this morning when I woke up, I like the scene I saw outside my window. The rolling hills covered in trees that are changing colors. They're beautiful! There were fallen leaves blowing across the driveway. "This is what FALL is all about," I thought to myself. I just enjoyed an overcast, color-filled, fall day.
I won't say I miss the changing seasons in California, but I will say I am enjoying this fall and the privilege of being in a place where the season is so obvious and beautiful.
It also reminds me that each season is created for a specific reason and is beautiful in it's own way. So are the seasons of our lives. Each life stage is created for a specific purpose and should be enjoyed for the beautiful part of our life it is. I pray that this will stay in the fore-front of my mind as I return to work. I will enjoy this new stage of my life!
