Leilani dropped a CD and score in my office so I can prep for the children's choir vespers. They are doing The Messiah for young voices. I started listening and it really did put me in the mood for Christmas.
Then I went to the rehearsal for a few minutes. Oh, my word! Such sweet kids and such beautiful voices! The score is well-written and the narration is just right. It's going to be amazing on Saturday night when they perform and everything comes together.
I find myself oddly torn about whether the Messiah is Christmas music or Easter music. Certainly, I think it's appropriate for both, but somehow I always thought it belonged at Easter. After all that's when I first sang it.
